Location & Accommodations Call for Papers Conference Contacts Please note the change in date for this event. The modeling and simulation (M&S) of DE weapons, devices, systems, engagements, and missions is expanding in importance as DE systems are being developed and acquired. The heavy dependence upon M&S throughout the lifecycle of modern systems makes it a critical component for acquisition and transition success.
This Eleventh Annual Directed Energy Modeling & Simulation Conference will be held on 26-30 August 2013 as part of the Directed Energy Systems Symposium. Conference Highlights
Call for Papers s Papers are currently solicited for the 2013 DE M&S Conference. This call is available in PDF format suitable for printing. The Scope of the Conference encompasses the following:
In keeping with the Systems Symposium theme: "Moving Forward: Making DE Happen" topics describing modeling, simulation, and analysis activities in the following focus areas are particularly encouraged:
The DE M&S Conference is constantly striving to enhance technical excellence while providing a forum to encourage interaction with other members of the DE community. To that end, the overall number of presentations may be limited and papers screened for new and innovative work. An extended abstract is encouraged to allow the author to fully describe their planned paper. Submissions will also be considered for the poster session. The DE M&S Conference will publish all presentations (and papers) that have been properly released by a sponsoring government agency and have proper classification markings, as a part of the DE Systems Symposium proceedings. The proceedings will be organized as follows to allow for maximum distribution of the technical data: Submitting Abstracts Abstracts must be unclassified, should be between 500 and 1000 words in length, and include: paper title, a complete description of the paper, author's names / organizations, lead author contact information (telephone, email and fax), expected classification of the presentation (and the paper) as well as the expected distribution restrictions. Additionally, please identify the presenter (if different from the lead author) and provide up-to-date contact information. Abstracts should be submitted online by completing this form. Authors who submitted their abstract prior to 1 May will be notified on or before 25 May 2013 of acceptance of their paper for presentation and / or publication. Additional instructions for submitting classified papers and presentations may be provided at that time. Please contact webmaster@deps.org with any technical issues regarding abstract submission. Subject matter questions regarding abstracts should be directed to your conference chair. Note: While an automated email is sent confirming receipt of your abstract, some military domains may block delivery of such an email. If you do not receive email confirmation, you may check this listing of submitted abstracts. This listing is dynamically generated based on abstracts received at the time the page is displayed and author permission (granted when submitted). If the title of your abstract is contained in this listing, it has been received by DEPS. Presentations and Papers In order to assemble the presentations for the symposium in a timely manner, authors are requested to submit the sponsoring Program Office approved versions of classified and unclassified presentations no later than 5 August 2013. Any presentation received after this date is subject to not being presented at the discretion of the conference technical committee. Authors are encouraged to submit papers as well as presentations. Submitted papers may, upon author approval, be forwarded for consideration by editors of the Journal of Directed Energy, a peer-reviewed publication. Papers are due on or before 15 August 2013 and should be submitted in either Microsoft Word format, which is preferred or Adobe Acrobat format (pdf file). Specific format instructions can be found on the following link: Journal Author Instructions with the following exceptions: no page limit, single space paragraphs, double space between paragraphs and integrated figures and tables. Include full information (including address, phone, fax, and email) for corresponding author. It is the authors' responsibility to ensure that the paper has not been published, nor under consideration, elsewhere.
Release Forms Presentation Release Form Paper Release Form Security Distribution The DE Modeling & Simulation Conference, with the DE Systems Symposium, returns to its popular Monterey location this year. Sessions of the Symposium will be held at the Naval Postgraduate School (NPS). Directions to NPS is available through their web pages. The site consist of multiple buildings and a map of the location of sessions will be available on site for registrants.
