DEWS with Integrated Environmental Situation Awareness and Decision Aid
The DE Environmental Decision System (DEEDS) is an add-on rack mounted processor to provide DE weapon operators with real-time environmental situation awareness and decision aid. This presentation reports on the latest status of integrating the DEEDS processor with a Counter Unmanned Aerial System (C-UAS) laser weapon system. Initial function demonstration is scheduled for October 2024 in Dayton, OH. The series of tests involve low-power laser propagation to an UAS equipped with beam diagnostics sensors. DEEDS uses numerical weather prediction (NWP), LEEDR weather cubes, surface level turbulence models, and SHaRE to annotate the operators console data feed in real-time with anticipated system performance estimates.
