Power Beaming Modeling within the AFSIM Framework
There is interest in using AFSIM to model the ability to beam power to a flying asset from a high energy laser. Since there is no Power Beaming function within the Directed Energy Plugins from AFRL/RDMW, GTRI is using these plugins to develop a Power Beaming model in AFSIM to simulate these types of systems. This presentation will cover the modular components of the methodology, the individual models used to represent each aspect of the “charge chain,” and initial results of the predictive analysis for both lab and open air tests on the effectiveness of a power beaming system.
