Ground-to-GEO LiDAR: Analysis, design, and testing
A key pillar of space domain awareness (SDA) is timely information on satellite orbital states. Passive optical sensing requires several hours to derive precise orbital states. Measurement systems that either add geometric diversity or range sensing capabilities can reduce this orbital estimation timeline to tens of minutes. This talk dives into an AFRL program: GEO Satellite Ranging (GSR), which is maturing ground-to-GEO LiDAR for rapid orbit determination. Discussion will include similarities and differences in technologies relevant to the DEPS community.
