This Year's Theme
Pivot to the Pacific
The Directed Energy (DE) Systems Symposium focuses on systems aspects of DE in a limited-attendance environment.
This ninth annual DE Systems Symposium consisted of co-located technical sessions organized by seven separate conferences,
with joint technical and plenary sessions to encourage discussion outside narrow technical limits. The objective

of this symposium was to provide a forum for the interchange of ideas and to focus on near term demonstrations of
DE technology. Registrants were able to attend any session of the Symposium for just one registration fee.
The theme of this year’s DE Systems Symposium was Pivot to the Pacific. The symposium
plenary and joint sessions examined the impacts of this national strategic "pivot" on the
operational needs of our forces and the impact to the DE systems required to meet those operational
needs. The technical conferences explored the ramifications of the pivot on DE systems and technology.
Portions of the Symposium were conducted at the Secret level, and attendance at all sessions was
limited to U.S. citizens with security clearances, who are employees of the U.S. Government
or its contractors.

Technical sessions of the Systems Symposium were held at the Naval Postgraduate School (NPS) and
at the symposium hotel, Hyatt Regency Monterey.
Registration
Registration is no longer possible for this event.
Persons requesting cancellation through 28 July will receive a full refund. Cancellations after
28 July are subject to a $100 cancellation fee. No refunds will be given after 21 August.
are provided below.
Authors will be notified on or before 10 July 2014 of acceptance of their paper for presentation and/or publication.
Proceedings
The conferences of the DE Systems Symposium will publish all presentations (and papers) that have been
properly marked and released by a sponsoring government agency.
To
allow for the maximum distribution of the technical data, the Systems Symposium will generate five sets of proceedings covering the
various combinations of Classification and Distributions (A, C, and D).
See our
Online Store for these and other proceedings from previous Systems Symposia.
