DIRECTED ENERGY PROFESSIONAL SOCIETY

Directed Energy Effects Committee
3 August 2010 Albuquerque, NM

Location   Attendance   Albuquerque Weather

The Directed Energy Professional Society (DEPS) recognizes a need within the Directed Energy (DE) community for more formal and extended collaborations than are fostered by periodic conferences and symposia. DEPS intends to meet this need by establishing and nurturing committees of members interested in specific topical areas. The topic area chosen for the initial effort is directed energy effects.

The scope of the committee includes:

  • All DE effects, including RF and lasers
  • All postures, including offense, defense, and protection
  • Materials, components, sub-systems and systems effects
  • Effects data production, including standards
  • Databases for storage of DE effects data
  • Data dissemination and information distribution
  • Simulation, modeling and other applications of DE effects data and information

The draft revised Committee Charter is available for review. The Charter is subject to review and approval by the DEPS Board of Directors.

The minutes and other information from previous Committee meetings are available on this web page. Access to this page is password controlled. Committee members have been given the username and password.

Next Committee Meeting - 3 August 2010, Albuquerque, NM

Objective
Over the last year, it's become evident that in order to better serve the community, we need to refocus our efforts around two or three main thrusts rather than the relatively large number of separate activities that we've currently been attempting to execute. This will be the theme for this meeting. Our current plan is to open the meeting with a straw man plan for the coming year and then open the discussion. The objective of the meeting is to identify the two or three main themes we will focus on over the coming 12 months, and re-organize the sub-committee structure as necessary to efficiently carry out the new, more focused plan. Given our experience over the previous 12 months specifically as it applies to the resource limitations imposed by this volunteer team, this is our opportunity to make this committee a more effective contributor to the larger DE community.

Location and Accommodations
The next Directed Energy Effects Committee meeting will be held from 1330-1700 the afternoon of 3 August 2010 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. This is just prior to the technical sessions of the DE T&E Conference, also held in Albuquerque.
