Continuing Education Units (CEU) are awarded to qualifying students in DEPS short courses on the basis of 1.0 CEU per ten hours of direct contact between the student and instructor. Given time for breaks and lunch, a typical course day qualifies for 0.7 CEU. The minimum requirement to qualify for CEU credit is course attendance. The course roll is a record of attendance, and students who wish to obtain CEU credit must sign the roll at the beginning of each day of the course. In addition, students must return the evaluation form with their names on the form at the end of the course. Without this documentation, CEU credit will not be awarded. Short courses may also involve in-class projects, homework, quizzes and tests. When these are part of the course, students must participate and achieve minimum grades to qualify for CEU credit. Course instructors evaluate student participation and determine grades. A record of CEU credit awarded is maintained by DEPS. Students may request CEU reports be sent to themselves or to third parties by contacting Cristina Crowson, at (505)998-4910 or at cristina@deps.org. No records are released without student permission.
